Mr. Stephen defended a 17 year old motorist who struck a 58 year old pedestrian crossing in the cross walk at 111th and Cicero. The case was tried before a jury impaneled by Judge Thomas Murphy from November 12 to November 14, 2019. The plaintiff presented evidence of approximately $68,000 in medical bills. However, Mr. Stephen successfully persuaded the Court to bar the Plaintiff from presenting evidence of an alleged need for future surgery. The Plaintiff asked the jury for $130,000 but Mr. Stephen persuaded the jury that the Plaintiff was at fault also and that the case was worth approximately $60,000. The jury awarded the Plaintiff $67,500.
