    Meagher + Geer is seeking a skilled and motivated Litigation Attorney with 1-5 years of experience to join our Minneapolis team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance coverage and civil litigation, excellent advocacy skills, and a passion for delivering results. This role involves handling all aspects of litigation, including drafting legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and depositions, communicating effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams.

    Paralegal
    Family Law

    Meagher + Geer, P.L.L.P. has an opening for an experienced Family Law Paralegal in our downtown Minneapolis office. The ideal candidate will have experience in Family Law and general litigation. Responsibilities include gathering information, communicating with clients, drafting motion documents and discovery responses, scheduling motions and mediations, composing and replying to emails and letters, creating Excel marital estate balance sheets for dissolution cases, and other related legal tasks. The ability to work within scheduling constraints is crucial, including managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.

    Responsibilities
    • Draft legal correspondence, including letters, answering informal and formal discovery, and assisting in drafting divorce pleadings and motion pleadings.
    • Organize and prepare financial documents, i.e., balance sheets for marital estates using Excel.
    • Assist with mediation and trial preparation by preparing and organizing financial documents, outlines of issues, expert material, pleadings, depositions, and exhibits.
    • Expected to bill a minimum of 1600 billable hours per year (133 billable hours/month).
    • Communicate with attorneys, clients, and support staff.
    • Manage and prioritize projects to meet various deadlines.

    Requirements
    • 6+ years of work experience as a Paralegal in a law firm. A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program and/or 2 or 4-year degree is required.
    • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook). Proficient in using Excel.
    • Proficient in using litigation technology systems such as iManage/Work 10, Titan File, and Aderant.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, i.e., legal writing.
    • Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work with deadlines and stressful situations.

    Administrative Specialist

    Meagher + Geer is seeking a detail-oriented Billing and Finance Administrative Specialist to support billing, accounting, finance, and legal administration functions. This role is ideal for a highly organized professional who enjoys working collaboratively, managing financial and administrative details, and providing exceptional internal and client service in a fast-paced professional services environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare, review, edit, and process attorney prebills and client invoices to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with client billing requirements.
    • Process electronic billing submissions, respond to billing inquiries, and collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to resolve billing questions, adjustments, and revenue-related matters.
    • Assist with general accounting functions, financial record maintenance, reporting, reconciliations, data management, and other Finance Department processes.
    • Support legal administration needs, including client and matter administration, document preparation, coordination of information, and backup administrative support.
    • Maintain billing documentation, contribute to process improvements, and support departmental initiatives focused on efficiency, accuracy, and service.
    • Build positive working relationships with attorneys, legal professionals, clients, and administrative staff while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
    • Provide flexible support across departments, adapt to changing priorities, and assist with special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications
    • Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, Legal Studies, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant professional experience will also be considered.
    • Three or more years of experience in legal billing, accounting, legal administration, or a professional services environment preferred.
    • Prior law firm experience is strongly preferred.
    • Experience with legal billing systems, accounting software, or practice management software preferred.
    • Experience with Aderant, Elite, or Clio law firm software is a plus.
    • Strong attention to detail, organization, confidentiality, communication, and customer-service skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.
